They knew there was a direct link between helping people grow and business outcomes, and they were interested in learning how to use AI to develop better leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Seeking the answer to this question led them to develop\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovida.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ovida<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, an AI-powered platform to help leaders master their communication skills.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They wanted to build a product that would allow anyone within an organization to get insights for improving their coaching skills, such as asking better questions or active listening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovida.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ovida website<\/a>, they are deeply optimistic about the potential of AI to positively impact humans.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Instead of avoiding AI, Alex suggests getting to know it and using it to help you double down on what makes us human.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">4\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Steps to Leverage AI as a Coach<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Below, Alex, who is also a part of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/coachingfederation.org\/resources\/coaching-and-technology\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">ICF\u2019s Technology and AI Task Force<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0 shares four strategies for coaches who want to become irreplaceable with AI.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Embrace AI and Emerging Technology<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When you try an AI product and don\u2019t think it\u2019s that good, Alex encourages you to remain open-minded and not to discount how disruptive this technology will be to their industry based on its current performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe AI train is not stopping,\u201d Alex says. \u201cAI is currently the worst it\u2019ll ever be. It will get exponentially better from here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As a coach, you can use AI tools to complement your work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With an AI-assisted tool like Alex\u2019s company, Ovida, more leaders can have access to data to improve their performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWorking with a coach is essential. No one likes data thrown at them,\u201d Alex warns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The analytics may help leaders identify areas for improvement, but the information alone is not enough.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As a coach, you can work with a client to review the analytics and identify areas for improvement. He suggests asking \u201ca lot of questions about how you and your client\u2019s data will be handled.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Be conscious of the implications of all the tools you use. It\u2019s not just about AI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIf you\u2019re saving Zoom recordings locally on your machine, do you have proper security protocols?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">You should read the privacy policy of every website and platform you use.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">That means asking things like how data is being stored and where. Understand which geography houses your data, as every region has regulatory differences. What are the security protocols of the platform you\u2019re using? Can you delete your data? Can you take away your consent?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cAll of us must become informed consumers of the technology we use,\u201d Alex says.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Experiment with AI Tools<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Alex believes the best way to understand what AI tools and coaching bots are good at and what areas need work is to test-drive them.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThere are really cool tools out there. Experiment and have fun!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He acknowledges that some coaches may be afraid to experiment because it might feel vulnerable. Still, he argues that it\u2019s important to remember that fear, discomfort, and vulnerability are necessary for growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Alex suggests that you try one tool per month. They can even facilitate a GROW model session.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThere are parts of the coaching discussion that are very repetitive,\u201d says Alex.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cAnd [AI coaching bots] can follow the GROW model perfectly.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As it turns out, AI knows exactly what to ask, knows the sequence of questions, will ask additional questions to fill in the gaps, and will never forget what a client told it.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">That\u2019s why Alex suggests focusing on the parts of coaching interactions that you can do better than a machine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cFocus on the things that make you uniquely human and get really, really good at doing those things.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To improve your human connection skills, Alex suggests taking inspiration from the world of sports. Athletes who want to improve their performance record themselves playing, see what they\u2019re doing well, and create improvement plans with their coaches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">That\u2019s where AI tools like Alex\u2019s app, Ovida, come in.
